Annemarie was born in the Netherlands and she moved to Valencia in 1998, bringing with her a deep cultural connection that forms the foundation of our linguistic approach.

5 About Annemarie

Hi! I’m Annemarie – a positive, energetic and happy person (my last name ‘Vrolijk’ means happy in English and ‘alegre’ in Spanish). In my free time, I love learning new languages, practicing yoga, hiking and skiing.

I was born in a small village in the south of the Netherlands and grew up in the countryside of the Flevopolder. After high school, I decided to explore the world. I started in Breda and did an internship in Indonesia. I liked the south, so I continued my journey through Brussels and Bilbao before heading even further south, passing through Valencia, Pisa, and Geneva,
to finally settle in sunny Valencia.

I have been living in Valencia for 25 years with my husband, Marcel. Together, we have two wonderful children. Our eldest, Vincent, was born in Valencia and currently lives and studies in Switzerland, while Anna, who was born in Italy, lives and studies in the Netherlands.

Throughout my life, I have had the opportunity to live in several countries and learn their languages. I am passionate about languages, and that’s exactly why I founded AlegreTranslations—because it makes me happy and allows me to help businesses like yours expand internationally.
